Current-location feature

The map page has a “Show my location” button. When you press it, your browser asks for permission to share your location. Your location is fetched only if you grant permission.

• Raw latitude and longitude (your precise coordinates) are used only inside your browser. They are not sent to or stored on the placeof server.
• After the map recentres, placeof receives a request for building data in the visible viewport, a rectangle a few hundred metres to a few kilometres across. This is the same mechanism as any other map pan or zoom and does not include the precise coordinates themselves.
• The location is used only to render a marker on the map. Closing the page ends the location subscription.
• You can revoke permission at any time in your browser settings under Site permissions and Location.

Access logs

Our hosting provider records standard access logs, such as IP address, User-Agent, and referrer, for operations. They are used only for incident response, abuse prevention, and understanding usage patterns.

Contact form

Content submitted through the contact form is used only to reply to you and correct data. Name and email are optional.

Cookies

We use only the minimum cookies needed to preserve the browsing experience, such as the light or dark theme. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand how the site is used. It does not use cookies or collect personally identifiable information; it provides only aggregate statistics such as page views and referrers.

Building data

The building environmental-performance data on this site comes from filings and datasets published by municipal and public institutions. It does not include personally identifiable information. Each building detail page lists its sources.

Revisions

We may revise this policy as needed. Substantive changes will be announced on the home page.
